FSB declassifies documents dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Yalta Conference

On February 4, the FSB Public Relations Center (PRC) published declassified archival documents dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Yalta Conference of the leaders of the anti-Hitler coalition countries: the Soviet Union, the United States and Great Britain.

In February 1945, Joseph Stalin, American President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill met in Crimea to fight Nazi Germany and its satellites.

The members of the delegations were housed in three palaces: the Soviet in Yusupov Palace, the American in Livadia Palace and the British in Vorontsov Palace.

All the buildings in which the members of the delegations were accommodated were checked for mines and explosive objects - no traces of mines with time mines and surprise mines were found.

At the same time, 43 unexploded artillery shells, nine grenades, eight mortar mines, 21 jumping mines and one rocket-propelled grenade - a total of 82 explosive objects - were found at the inspected sites.

To ensure the protection of the conference of the NKVD of the USSR, four regiments of NKVD troops, including two regiments specially trained for guard duty, 50 specially selected security officers, 1,200 operatives and a motorcycle detachment of 120 men were sent to the site and began to perform their duties.

It is reported that during the preparatory measures 74,000 persons were checked, of whom 835 persons were arrested.

Thanks to the measures taken by the Soviet special services, the conference of the leaders of the USSR, USA and Great Britain in Crimea was held without any incidents.

Earlier, on April 19, 2023, Vladimir Rudakov, editor-in-chief of the magazine "Historian", explained the unique historical significance of Crimea for Russia. He noted that in January 1945 Crimea was at the center of international politics: the Yalta Conference was held there, where the foundations of the new world order were laid.
