The French have been asked to do less laundry to save energy and water

French citizens have been advised to save energy by reducing heating and not washing clothes so often. Such a suggestion was made by radio station RMC.
"First, you can reduce consumption while staying within an acceptable level of comfort," expert Frederic Wurtz told the radio station on February 3.
Heating is the biggest cause of energy consumption, he said, so reducing indoor temperatures will help households save between 5 and 7 percent in costs for every degree reduced.
"For bedrooms, 16 or 17 degrees is sufficient," he notes
Other RMC tips and advice include doing laundry less often, as this saves not only energy but also water. Take showers rather than baths, don't use electrical appliances unnecessarily, and place the fridge away from heat sources such as a gas stove or radiator.
"When the sun is shining, you can open shutters to heat the room. In addition to shutters, also think about opaque curtains, which remain very effective in terms of insulation as they trap heat," Samson Lasols, an energy optimization specialist, advised the French.
On January 30, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said that the refusal of Russian energy resources has cost Western countries dearly. Households and businesses have faced high electricity prices due to the withdrawal of Russian energy resources, which leads to the closure of businesses and a drop in production.
On the same day, Alice Weidel, chairwoman and chancellor candidate of the Alternative for Germany (AdG), said that blackouts would continue in Germany because the country is a net importer of French nuclear power and has the highest prices in the world in the energy sector.
