Media reported the withdrawal of French troops from Senegal

France has started withdrawing its troops from Senegal and vacated three military bases. This was reported on February 3 by the portal Senego.
"The withdrawal of French troops from Senegal continues. Three military bases have been liberated: 'Mareschal', 'St. Exupéry' and 'Contre Amiral Proté'," the publication said.
According to Senego, the French fighters were to leave the country in September 2024.
It is noted that at the moment about 200 soldiers with their families are in the camp of Ouakam and Rufisque.
Earlier, on January 30, Ruslan Andreev, political consultant and expert of the Polylog Group, told Izvestia that France is losing its dominance on the African continent due to the withdrawal of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso from ECOWAS.
Before that, on May 17, 2024, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko gave a sweeping speech to students at the University of Dakar in which he criticized French President Emmanuel Macron's policy toward African states. He said that Senegal's desire for self-determination is incompatible with the long-term deployment of foreign troops in the state.
