Fighters of the "Center" group told about working with UAVs with fiber optic cable

FPV drones with fiber-optic control capable of overcoming the enemy's electronic warfare (EW) forces have become one of the unexpected technical novelties of the Russian Armed Forces for the enemy. On February 4, the Izvestiya correspondent was told about the work with drones by soldiers of the Center group of troops.
According to the journalist, it was this invention that tilted the balance of power in the sky in favor of the Russian army during the battles in Kursk region and in the battles for the liberation of Kurakhovo.
The fiber reserve carried by such a drone, of course, eats some of the weight of the potential combat load, but in exchange for this the operator receives an absolutely stable signal at all stages of flight and complete invulnerability to REB means.
According to the group's instructor-pilot Alexei Biryukov, communication, control and video transmission in the drones go directly over fiber optics.
"Without fiber optics it was very difficult when the enemy jammed us with REB, that is, our picture flew off, our control flew off, we lost drones. Fiber optics is a very big salvation," he shared.
Biryukov added that, controlling such a drone, it can perform any maneuvers - to accompany equipment, to hover, to observe.
In turn, the group's senior pilot, Private Anton Sobolev added that FPV drones with fiber-optic control provide both protection and passability of the Russian military.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the military of the "North" force grouping had destroyed a pickup truck of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kharkiv Region using FPV drone calculations. It was specified that the drone was used to identify the pickup truck of the enemy, which was intended for the transportation of militants.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
