Ukrainian media reported a mass departure of Colombian mercenaries

Colombian mercenaries are leaving the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) en masse due to the difficult situation on the frontline. This was reported by the Ukrainian English-language publication KyivPost on February 3.

"As the situation on the front steadily deteriorates, many Colombian soldiers have ended their contracts and left Ukraine. Some have even tried to terminate their contracts early," the article said.

Dmytro, the company commander of the 98th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, told the publication that there are no Colombians left in his unit, even though they used to make up a quarter of the personnel. At the same time, according to the officer, many Colombian mercenaries requested termination of their contracts after the first serious battles.

At the same time, the Finnish Foreign Ministry published instructions for citizens wishing to fight in the AFU. The ministry said that it did not encourage mercenaries to travel to Ukraine, but did not consider such actions to be a violation of Finnish law. Duma deputy Alexander Sheremet, for his part, called the message of the Finnish Foreign Ministry as incitement.

Earlier, in December 2024, Duma deputy Alexander Tolmachev said that the count of foreign mercenaries in the ranks of the AFU, liquidated or arrested, was running into thousands. British instructors will also join these lists.

At the same time, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that Russia was receiving more and more evidence of the presence of a significant number of foreign mercenaries in Ukraine fighting for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In particular, the number of Colombian mercenaries is increasing.
