Two weeks after the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel came into force, humanitarian aid convoys have arrived in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by the Associated Press on Monday, February 3.

Under the agreement, Israel promised to allow up to 600 truckloads of humanitarian aid into Gaza every day. However, the distribution of aid has been complicated by destroyed roads, Israeli inspections and the presence of unexploded ordnance.

Many residents continue to live in harsh conditions, facing high food prices and shortages of basic necessities. Israel, meanwhile, still restricts the import of some "dual-use" goods, fearing their use by militants, the piece said.

According to the agency, experts warn about the threat of deterioration of the situation in the region in case of a breakdown of the truce.

The ceasefire regime in the Gaza Strip began to operate in the morning of January 19. Then the Palestinian movement Hamas handed over to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) three Israeli hostages - Romy Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher. The next day, Israel released the first 90 Palestinian prisoners as part of the deal. The hostage exchange continues.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
