If the state is really ready for peace talks, it will not behave the way Ukraine is currently behaving. This was stated by Vladimir Dzhabarov, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee, on Monday, February 3, referring to the massive overnight drone attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Russian regions.

"Frankly speaking, if a country wants to conduct some kind of peace talks, it does not behave the way Ukraine is behaving now. That is, they are provoking us to a powerful offensive," the senator said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru.

Dzhabarov noted that the AFU makes attacks at night, as they try to take people by surprise.

"Besides, they have nothing else to do but [launch] these drones, which they release in huge numbers," Dzhabarov said.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian air defense forces (Air Defense Forces) overnight intercepted and destroyed 70 unmanned aerial vehicles (U AVs) of the AFU over Russian regions, reports NSN.

The agency specified that 27 UAVs over the Rostov region, 25 UAVs over the Volgograd region, seven over the Astrakhan region, five over the Voronezh region, four over the Belgorod region and two over the Kursk region, RT reports.

Earlier in the day, Voronezh Region Governor Alexander Gusev said that air defense forces and electronic warfare (EW) forces had destroyed several UAVs in the skies above the region, Moscow 24 reported. He specified that, according to preliminary data, there are no casualties and destruction on the ground.

The AFU is trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the beginning of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
