January car sales in Russia showed growth

In January 2025, the market of new vehicles increased by 7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 102,514 units. This was reported in the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation on February 3.

For comparison, in January 2024, according to the data of JSC "PPK" (part of the group of companies JSC "Electronic Passport"), 95,671 new cars were sold. Despite the increase to January 2024, January sales were 30% lower than last December.

The domestic new car market exceeded 52,000 units in January, up 28% from a year ago. The passenger car segment (88,554 units) and the light commercial vehicle segment (7,846 units) showed the same growth of 11%. The truck (5,317 units) and bus (797 units) segments declined, down 29% and 32% respectively.

The market of new electric cars decreased to 764 units, which is 53% lower than in the same period of 2024. The share of cars manufactured in Russia amounted to 21%.
