AdG party proposed to recognize Ukraine as a neutral state

The German party Alternative for Germany (AdG) has proposed in its election program to recognize Ukraine as a neutral state that is not a member of the European Union or the North Atlantic Alliance. The text of the program was published on February 3 on the party's official website.
"We see Ukraine's future as a neutral state outside NATO and the EU," the document said.
In addition, representatives of the AdG included in their election program the demand for the immediate lifting of sanctions against Russia and the restoration of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines.
Earlier, on January 25, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said that Ukraine would never join the North Atlantic Alliance and that it would also have problems with joining the European Union (EU).
Before that, on 21 January, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine was not yet ready to join the EU and the organization was not ready for its accession.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term expired in May 2024) said on January 16 that Hungary, Slovakia, the USA and Germany did not want to see Ukraine in NATO. According to him, each state has "its own reasons" for this.
Ukraine applied for NATO membership on September 30, 2022. Then the Ukrainian leader specified that in fact the country is already in the alliance and meets its standards. Russia opposes Ukraine's accession to NATO.
