The Georgian authorities have decided to recall members of the delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). This was announced by the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili on February 3.

"As you know, Georgian Dream and People Power have quotas there, and in accordance with their quotas the delegation included: Thea Tsulukiani, Givi Mikanadze, Mariam Lashkhi, all three factions from Georgian Dream and Eka Sepashvili from the parliamentary political party, the Power of the People group, as well as Levan Machavariani, Rati Ionatamishvili and Zviad Shalamberidze from the reserve team, all of them are members of the Georgian Dream faction and have been recalled from the delegation," Papuashvili said during a meeting of the parliament bureau, his words were quoted by the First Channel of Georgian TV.

He specified that the delegation was not dissolved, its members were only challenged. It is noted that they have already made a corresponding request to PACE President Theodoros Roussopolos.

In addition, Papuashvili expressed hope that PACE will return to its original values, which will be based on respect for democracy and sovereignty.

Earlier, on January 29, Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Teia Tsulukiani said that the Georgian parliamentary delegation is terminating its work in PACE because of the resolution adopted in the organization, which calls for new elections in the country. She specified that Georgia will remain a member of the Council of Europe, but will not return to work until the provocations against it stop.

At the end of November, protests of the opposition, which disagreed with the results of the elections held in Georgia, did not subside for several days. On November 18, President Salome Zurabishvili did not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections held in the country on October 26 and called for their re-run. According to her, the country is on the path of destabilization and dual power. The politician called on the citizens of the state to continue protests against the results of the parliamentary elections.

According to the CEC, the Georgian Dream won the parliamentary elections . At the same time, three opposition political forces - United National Movement, Coalition for Change and Strong Georgia - refused to recognize the election results.
