Fraudsters have started using modern technologies to create fake payment documents for housing and utilities. This was warned on February 3 by Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications.

According to him, fake receipts do not differ from the real ones. Attackers expect that a citizen, who has received such a "payment document", will automatically pay the debt by means of a QR code without checking the requisites.

"Check the requisites carefully - compare them with previous payments or check with the data on the official website of your management company," Nemkin noted in a conversation with RT.

Up-to-date accounts can be found in online housing and utilities services or bank applications, it is dangerous to trust third-party sources, the deputy reminded.

He also urged to be more careful with QR codes: before scanning it, it is necessary to make sure that the receipt is genuine.

On the eve the Department for organization of fight against illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned that fraudsters started to use phishing attacks on behalf of Ozon marketplace to get access to citizens' data.
