Media learned about the loss of AFU positions near Krasnoarmeysk due to poor supplies

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are losing their positions near the town of Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name - Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) due to supply problems and a shortage of personnel. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP) on February 3.
The publication pointed out that Krasnoarmeysk is an important transportation hub, which is connected by a network of highways with the key cities of the DNR. Ukrainian military personnel in the town told the agency that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) have changed tactics in recent weeks, striking on the flanks instead of directly attacking. The Russian military controls key heights around the city, and Ukrainian supply routes are now in their sights.
In addition, there has been heavy fog in the area over the past few days, which has prevented the Ukrainian armed forces from using reconnaissance drones. Ukrainian commanders told AP that they do not have enough reserves to hold their positions, and new infantry units are failing in combat operations. AFU military officials complain that the new recruits arrive completely unprepared for modern combat operations.
Earlier, on January 28, British analyst Alexander Mercouris said that Kiev will face a political crisis after the start of fighting for Krasnoarmiisk, and especially after the fall of this city. This, according to the expert, will be a turning point that will "sweep away" Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired on May 20, 2024.
On September 23, law enforcement agencies reported that Ukraine's special police unit "White Angel" was forcibly removing children from Krasnoarmeysk. At first law enforcers simply forced families to leave the city, but now it looks like kidnapping of minors: they are taken from their homes and taken away without their parents.
On January 31, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces had liberated the village of Novovasilevka. Later, on February 2, the ministry published footage of the combat work of assault brigades in this settlement. The Russian military went through mined areas and used attack drones.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
