The German party Alternative for Germany (AdG) has included in its election program a demand for the immediate lifting of sanctions against Russia and the restoration of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines. The text of the program is published on the official website of the party.

It also noted that good relations with the United States are important for Germany and Europe, especially in the spheres of economy, technology and science. At the same time, the geopolitical and economic interests of the United States increasingly rarely coincide with the interests of Germany and other European countries.

"An example of this is energy policy, in particular the US attempts to block the launch of the Nord Stream gas pipeline." The AdG believes that Germany should not be drawn into conflicts between the US and other powers," the party's election program says.

As "RIA Novosti" specifies , the AdG "opposes the deployment of long-range U.S. weapons in Germany."

Earlier, on January 20, Bundestag deputy from the party "Union of Sarah Wagenknecht - for reason and justice" Sevim Dagdelen called for the resumption of the gas pipeline "Nord Stream - 2", as well as to import Russian oil. She pointed out that otherwise Germany will continue to suffer economic decline as "self-destructive sanctions" against Russia tighten.

Prior to that, on January 11, German AdG chancellor candidate Alice Weidel promised to restore the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines if elected to office .

At the end of December 2024, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic suggested that the United States may wish to acquire Nord Stream within a year to supply gas from Russia to Europe. At the same time, Igor Yushkov, an analyst at the National Energy Security Fund, considered this scenario unlikely.

According to the December estimates of the Swiss company Transliq AG, the costs of repairing Nord Stream-2 may amount to €633 million, taking into account the future operation of the pipeline.

Leaks at the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were discovered in September 2022. Two powerful underwater explosions were registered at the pipelines. Traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks. In February 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the CIA was responsible for the explosions.
