There were 381 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend

Over the first weekend of February, Russian roads were recorded accidents, in which 40 people were killed and 507 were injured. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Monday, February 3, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 112 car accidents, 50 of which occurred at crosswalks and 62 - outside their zone of action, nine pedestrians were killed, another 108 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured pedestrians are 13 children under the age of 16, the agency said.

With the participation of buses on the roads of Russia recorded 16 accidents, in which two people died another 25 road users, including five minors were injured. The cause of 12 accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles, in four incidents the bus drivers themselves violated traffic rules.

In the Leningrad region at 134 km of the federal highway A-180 "Narva" (St. Petersburg - border with the Republic of Estonia) the driver of a road service truck did not take into account the side interval and collided with an intercity bus carrying 22 passengers from Ivangorod to St. Petersburg moving in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident two passengers of the bus were killed, both drivers and 13 passengers of the bus, including a 12-year-old schoolboy, were injured and hospitalized. Two more victims required medical assistance, after which they were sent for outpatient treatment.

With the participation of minors over the weekend 47 accidents were registered, as a result of which 56 young road users were injured, including 42 passengers. Two child passengers died.

In the Tyumen region on a regional highway, a woman driver of a passenger car drove into the oncoming lane, where she collided with two other passenger cars. As a result of the accident, the female driver and her three passengers, including two daughters born in 2011 and 2013, were killed. At the time of the collision, the dead girls were in the back row of seats with their seat belts fastened. The motorist's third daughter (born in 2023), as well as a six-year-old boy riding in the second car, were hospitalized. The driver and another minor passenger (8 years old) of the same vehicle, as well as two passengers of the third car, including a 10-year-old schoolboy, were sent for outpatient treatment after medical assistance. Both injured children were on the back row of seats in their cars and were wearing seat belts.

In the traffic police remind the drivers of heavy-duty and specialized equipment of the need to correctly assess the dimensions of the vehicle, to correlate them with the width of the roadway, the lateral interval to neighboring vehicles that move both in the opposite and opposite directions.

"We also draw the attention of drivers to strict compliance with the rules of transportation of children in the cabin of the car. Take care of your young passengers, not allowing on your part even the preconditions for a possible tragedy. Do not make dangerous maneuvers, refuse from risky manner of driving, do not exceed the permitted speed limit, especially in conditions of limited visibility and winter weather, leave yourself time to react adequately to the possible at any moment change in the traffic situation," - recalled in a conversation with "Izvestia" Deputy Head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan.

On January 28, the head of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry, Lieutenant General of Police Mikhail Chernikov said that the number of people killed in traffic accidents last year had decreased by 0.9%. The head of the Russian State Automobile Inspectorate noted that, according to preliminary data, the number of car accidents decreased by 0.7%, while the number of people injured in them - by 1.5%.
