The government of Belarus has resigned before the newly elected president of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko. This was reported in the press service of the government on February 3.

"The government according to the Constitution has resigned before the newly elected President," reads the Telegram-channel.

It is specified that the corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.

Earlier in the day, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus reported on the official approval of Lukashenko's victory in the presidential elections of the country. It was specified that over 5.1 million votes were cast for his candidacy, which amounted to 86.82%.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Belarus Igor Karpenko reported on January 27 that the incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko had won the presidential election. At the same time, there were no complaints of any violations from citizens and observers.

Polling stations of the main day of voting in the presidential election in Belarus worked throughout the country on January 26. After the turnout reached 56.64% at 12:00, the election was recognized valid. The voter turnout amounted to 85.7%.

January 28, Lukashenko noted that the elections in the country, contrary to Western expectations, were held at a high organizational level and without incidents. The Belarusian leader pointed out that the election campaign had not disturbed the quiet rhythm of life in the country.
