The most accident-prone age for motorists has been named

Men 35-44 years old remain the most dangerous motorists, 30% of road accidents occurred due to their fault last year. This was reported by the press release of VSK insurance company on February 3.

A total of 83% of road accidents occurred through the fault of men (80% in 2023). The number of women-accident perpetrators, on the contrary, decreased by 20%, reported VSK.
Most of all road accidents are traditionally recorded in Moscow (8.77%). In the top of the most accident-prone regions in 2024 is also Krasnodar Krai (7%).

Owners of VAZ/Lada (17.6%), Toyota (7.9%), Hyundai (6.6%), Kia (5.8%) and Renault (4.6%) cars were most often involved in road accidents.

About 18% of road accidents were caused by corporate car fleets (cabs, carsharing, delivery services, etc.). Last year this figure was comparable - 17%. The peak of road accidents last year was recorded in January - 14.7% of MTPL accidents. The most dangerous day of the week on the road in 2024 was Friday - VSK estimated the probability of getting into an accident at 16.24%.

On January 30, the press service of the Ministry of Finance said that the Ministry had given negative conclusions on the initiatives to increase the limits of CMTPL insurance payments and the introduction of compensation for damage in the absence of a policy of the accident perpetrator.
