The topic of holding elections in Ukraine is important for future negotiations, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expired on 20 May 2024) does not like it. This was stated by the Kremlin's official representative Dmitry Peskov on February 3.
"The very idea of holding elections in Ukraine in terms of legitimizing the leadership, and I want to remind you of a very recent statement by [Russian President Vladimir] Putin that this legitimization is necessary in terms of legally fixing any agreements in terms of conflict resolution.
