Bitcoin fell below $100 thousand due to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to impose 25% customs duties on imports of goods from Mexico and Canada, as well as 10% tariffs on products from China. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, February 3.

"Bitcoin, the largest and most famous cryptocurrency in the world, fell to $94 thousand on Monday morning in Asia," - said in the material of the agency.

Bitcoin fell 5.27% to $95.3 thousand as of 13:15 Moscow time, according to CoinMarketCap.

Over the past day, the total capitalization of the cryptocurrency market sagged by 10%, many of the largest crypto-assets over the day fell in value by more than 20%.

Earlier, on January 27, BitRiver financial analyst Vladislav Antonov told Izvestia that the bitcoin rate began to fall sharply on Sunday, January 26, which caused concern among investors and traders.

According to the specialist, the decline in the bitcoin rate at that time was due to the statement of Trump, who called on OPEC+ to reduce oil prices. This statement caused a wave of uncertainty in global markets, which negatively affected all risk assets, including bitcoin.
