About 670 billion rubles are envisaged in Russia for the creation of world-class student campuses. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko at a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on February 3.

"A total of about 670 billion rubles is envisioned for the creation of campuses and, as you (Russian Prime Minister - Ed.) noted, more than 240 billion [rubles] of them are extra-budgetary funds," he said.

Chernyshenko specified that by 2030, 25 modern university campuses with a total area of about 3 million square meters are planned to be built in the country. These campuses will provide accommodation for 85 thousand students and teachers. This year it is expected to commission the campus of the Ural Federal University in Yekaterinburg, as well as facilities in Ufa, Kaliningrad, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Nizhny Novgorod, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In addition, 11 dormitories are currently under active construction, six are at the design stage, and for eight projects the main parameters are being coordinated with the government, Chernyshenko added.

He emphasized that by 2036 the number of campuses should increase to 40.

Earlier, on January 15, the project of the inter-university multifunctional campus "Future of Parma" in Perm received a positive conclusion of the state expert review and a construction permit. It includes the construction of hotels for students and teachers with 5,000 beds, a training and laboratory complex with a technology park, a fitness and health center with a swimming pool, and a congress hall with a pedestrian gallery.
