Meteorologist spoke about the impact of Cyclone Julian on the weather

Cyclone Julian, formed on February 1 over the Baltic States, brought snow to Karelia and the Leningrad Region. Now it is moving to the center of European Russia, today its center will be over areas of the Tver region, and in Moscow and along its southern periphery will be moderately warm and weakly humid air masses. Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist of the weather center "Phobos" told about it in a conversation with "Izvestia" on February 3.

"In the first days of its existence it was quite active, filled with moisture, but the pressure in its center is growing fast enough, and it shifts very slowly <...>. In the center of European Russia [the cyclone] is moving already almost exhausted. <...> On Tuesday, this cyclone will practically fill in and disappear from the weather maps," he specified.

Against this background, cloudy weather is expected in Moscow on Monday, with light snow in some places, the meteorologist said. The daytime temperature in the capital was about 0 degrees, and -2...+1 in the Moscow region and neighboring regions. In addition, the expert added, there will be ice on sidewalks and roads. The night on Tuesday will be moderately frosty: in Moscow - -1...-3 degrees, in areas near Moscow - from 0 degrees to -5.

On Tuesday in the capital region will remain cloudy weather, in some areas will be unstable clarifications - snow will be quite weak and localized. Sharp temperature changes in the daytime, compared to Monday, should not be expected, said the interlocutor of the publication.

"As much as the inhabitants of the central part of European Russia would not like to return to a snowy winter, while nature has other plans for it, and the height of the snow cover by mid-February in Moscow in the best case will be from 1 to 3 cm," - summarized Leus.

On Wednesday and Thursday the weather character will retain cyclonic features, and on Friday the anticyclone will begin its influence. Clouds over Moscow and Moscow suburbs will become less, and frost will become stronger. So, on Friday night in Moscow -5...-7, and in the region - in some places up to -10 degrees Celsius. In the daytime -1...-3 degrees in Moscow, and -1...-6 in the region.
