FAS prohibits retail chains from taking remuneration from egg and butter suppliers

Retail chains are prohibited from charging remuneration included in the contract price from suppliers of butter and chicken eggs. As the press service of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) reported on February 3, the government approved new requirements for businesses developed by the body.
"At the suggestion of the FAS of Russia, the list of goods for the sale of which retail chains are prohibited from charging suppliers a fee has been expanded. It includes chicken eggs of the first and second categories, as well as butter with a fat mass fraction of 72.5%. This will contribute to the stabilization of prices for the relevant socially important food products and increase their availability to consumers," - said the FAS.
Currently, the law on trade allows the inclusion in the contract price of remuneration in the amount not exceeding 5%, which the supplier pays to the retail network for the purchase of a certain amount of food products. The exception is certain socially important products included in the relevant list.
Earlier, on January 29, the FAS told about the plan to check whether the prices for mayonnaise, margarine, sunflower oil and table salt are reasonable. Producers will have to provide information on production volumes, sales, production costs and selling prices.
