The weather for the week of February 3-9 in Moscow and the Moscow region will be ideal for this time of year - without thaw and extreme frosts. Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told Izvestia on Monday.

"A mild variant of February. In the first days a slight frost and about zero degrees in the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday is expected, and from Wednesday a slight decrease in temperature, which will peak by Friday, when it will be -5...-10 degrees at night, and -1...-6 degrees <...> That is, an ideal February," he specified.

According to the interlocutor of the publication, there will be no precipitation. At the same time, against the background of the Black Sea cyclone approaching the region, the wind will slightly increase on Wednesday, but for most of the week it will be moderate. In the first half of the week the wind will be southwesterly, and then will be replaced by easterly. In addition, sunny weather is expected over the weekend.

"The only thing that changes dramatically during this week is the atmospheric pressure, it will experience a sharp rise, will increase by 20 mm of mercury column. It is not excluded that by Friday a record for the value of atmospheric pressure in Moscow will be set," the meteorologist added.

Earlier, on February 1, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand spoke about the return of "a semblance of winter" to Moscow. According to him, the air will cool down to -9 degrees Celsius. He also confirmed the high level of atmospheric pressure.
