Rospotrebnadzor says it is advising Uganda in the fight against Ebola


Rospotrebnadzor is providing Uganda with advisory assistance to prevent the spread of Ebola, the Ministry of Health of Uganda has already sent a mobile laboratory. This was announced on February 3 by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor on its official website.
According to the agency, on January 30, 2025, the Ministry of Health of Uganda reported the detection of disease caused by the Ebola virus in one of the medical workers. During the epidemiological investigation, it became clear that most of the contact persons are employees of the district hospital of Mbala city in the east of the country.
It is reported that a Russian-made mobile laboratory, which was earlier handed over to the Ugandan Ministry of Health by Rospotrebnadzor, has been promptly sent there.
"Russian specialists are constantly advising their Ugandan colleagues on the operation of the mobile complex and the rules of biological safety when working with particularly dangerous viruses," the statement said.
Uganda last experienced an outbreak in late 2022. According to the latest figures, 55 of the 143 infected people died then, among them six health workers.
Ebola hemorrhagic fever is transmitted through contact with infected body fluids and tissues. Symptoms include headache, vomiting blood, muscle aches and bleeding.
