Servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) have described the mopping up of the village of Plekhovo in the Kursk Region from the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Footage of the Russian army's work was shown by Izvestia.

When Russian assault squads entered the village, the AFU threw the wounded and tried to flee. Weapons and ammunition, including NATO-made ones, were abandoned in the houses where they had set up positions.

"They fled from their positions with bags, buckets. Everything was abandoned, left behind," said a fighter with the call sign Hera.

The AFU fighters chose residential houses as a matter of principle to equip their positions there. This complicates the work of Russian servicemen because civilians can still live in such buildings. A UAV operator of the reconnaissance and amphibious company of the 177th Marine Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign Ara noted that the AFU fighters use civilians as a shield.

"Marauded and exploited the unarmed. An elderly man's yard was dropped an HEAD from an FPV drone. We got together the next day, got a group to set up here. We set it up, but we didn't find the grandfather. He was taken out by the allies, they came by their car," Ara told Izvestia correspondent Vladislav Kharchenko.

Now the Caspian marines together with other units continue to clear the forest belts in the vicinity of Guevo. Over the past few days, assault groups have already occupied enemy strongholds on the outskirts of the village and continue to push Ukrainian militants out of the Kursk region.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) of the Molniya-2 aircraft type of the Tula Guards Airborne Compound hit and destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the AFU in the border area of Kursk Region.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
