Prolonged warming up of a car engine in the courtyard of an apartment building may entail administrative responsibility. This was told to the agency "Prime" by lawyer Elena Kuderko on February 3.

She noted that, according to Art. 12.28 of the Administrative Code, for such a violation, drivers can get a fine of 1.5 thousand to 3 thousand. Thus, if the car is warmed up for more than 5 minutes, law enforcement officers may draw up a report on administrative offense.

Kuderko warned that this violation is treated especially strictly in Moscow and St. Petersburg. While in the northern regions, for example, in Norilsk and Yakutsk, inspections are not so frequent.

To avoid getting a fine, you should park your car away from the windows of a residential building, the lawyer advised. If you need to warm up your car, you should do it just before you leave. In addition, she added, pre-starting and warming up the car is a frequent cause of violation. Kuderko recommended setting the timer for no more than five minutes.

"Keep in mind that neighbors and passersby may report the violation. This emphasizes the importance of attentiveness to the rules of operation of cars in residential areas," - concluded the expert.

Earlier, on January 31, it became known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has prepared amendments to the CAO, which are designed to close the legislative loophole that allows some drivers not to pay fines for "deafly" tinted windows. It was specified that the relevant amendment would eliminate the legislative gap that allows visitors from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Armenia and Georgia to drive cars with excessive tinted windows.
