The Tulpan large-caliber mortar of the Vostok group of troops has struck a blow at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), destroying a road bridge, a stronghold and personnel of Ukrainian militants in the southern Donetsk region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 3.

It is noted that the correction of fire and control of confirmation of the destruction of targets was carried out from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

As indicated in the department, 220-millimeter mortar "Tulpan" has the largest caliber in service with the Russian army. It is considered one of the best in the world. Its shells are capable of penetrating a wall about a meter thick. The units of the Vostok group of troops continue to move to the rear of the enemy's defenses. Artillery strikes on the militants of the AFU are made in the area of the village of Novoselka, which is located just west of Velikaya Novoselka.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Russian artillerymen using the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit destroyed the positions of Ukrainian militants who were shelling the outskirts of Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
