Eight people have been arrested in Italy for the attack on the train with fans of soccer club "Venice" in the province of Udine. This was reported by the local newspaper Quotidiano Nazionale on February 2.

The attack was launched by 50 fans of "Udinese", who were supported by numerous fans of the Austrian club "Salzburg". The attack took place on the evening of February 1 at Brasiliano station after the end of the match between Udinese and Venice with the score 1-1.

As a result of the attack, rail traffic at Brasiliano station was interrupted for more than an hour. According to the police, a group of 50 fans of Udinese and Salzburg occupied the station, through which the train with the opponents from Venice was to pass, and blocked the railroad tracks.

As the train stopped, clashes between the two groups of fans began, with police officers soon arriving. With the appearance of the police officers, the masked Udinese fans turned to flee, while the Venice fans returned to the train.

Within minutes of the brawl, five people, including police officers, were injured. Eight fans, five of them Austrians, were arrested at the scene. They are charged with blocking the railroad, aggravated brawling, resisting authorities, using pyrotechnic devices and batons during sporting events. They were also banned from approaching the venues of sporting events.

Earlier, on November 15, in the suburbs of Paris during the Nations League match between the national teams of France and Israel, fans staged a brawl at the beginning of the first half. A group of spectators broke into the away team's fan section, where there were about 50 Israeli fans.
