Russian artillerymen using the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit destroy the positions of Ukrainian militants who are shelling the outskirts of Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). "Izvestia" showed footage of Russian servicemen working in the special operation zone.

The gun commander of the 9th OMSBR of the 51st Army with the call sign Raja said that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are on the defensive and shelling civilians, as well as the center and outskirts of Gorlovka with cluster munitions. In turn, the Russian army artillerymen are pushing the enemy out of their positions with precise strikes and moving forward.

"We work hard, tightly, we don't let the enemy pass. Even when they are on the offensive, our artillery is always at the ready. There are times when the guys need help to work accurately. When we work on moving targets, it's very hard to hit. Let's say there's a car coming, they tell us to get ready. We need to fire a shot within 10-15 seconds so that the shell can still reach the target - the flight time is 30-20 seconds - and hit it accurately," Raja told Izvestia's military correspondent Alexander Safiulin.

The artillerymen densely cover the equipment with tree branches, which allows for good camouflage of the Russian servicemen's positions. The correspondent noted that in this direction it is necessary to constantly change combat positions because Ukrainian FPV drones often appear in the sky.

So, the scouts of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation detected the positions of the calculation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) of the enemy. After receiving the coordinates, Russian artillerymen worked on the target, hitting the positions of the AFU.

"Our scouts identify targets, transmit this to the control center. We count the target, pass the setting data to the gun commander and work in conjunction with our reconnaissance so that they observe this target and inflict a complete fire defeat on the enemy," said the commander of the artillery battery with the call sign Mityai.

Earlier, on February 2, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian servicemen hit the infrastructure of military airfields, fuel storage facilities used for the interests of the AFU, as well as concentrations of Ukrainian militants' manpower and equipment in 153 areas. In addition, air defense means (air defense) shot down a HIMARS shell and 44 AFU drones during the day.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
