Israeli police have opened an investigation into Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife, Sara, over allegations that she tried to intimidate a witness and attempted to interfere with the judicial process in three abuse cases against her husband on N12 TV channel 2024. The Times of Israel reported on February 2.

"Police have opened a criminal case against Sara Netanyahu over allegations that she attempted to intimidate a witness and interfere in a corruption case against her husband," the publication said.

According to opposition Knesset member Naama Lazimi, the Israeli prosecutor's office informed her that in response to her request on December 26, 2024, the police opened an investigation against Sara Netanyahu, the publication specified.

A report by N12 TV alleged that the Israeli prime minister's wife instructed her husband's aide Hanny Bleiweiss to organize protests and an online campaign to pressure a witness in one of the three cases in which Netanyahu is testifying in court.

Earlier, on June 16, 2019, it became known that the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Sarah Netanyahu was found guilty of improper use of public funds and obliged to pay a fine of 55 thousand shekels (at that time $15.2 thousand) for illegal use of catering services. The bribery case against Sara Netanyahu began in October 2018.

On February 28, 2019, Israeli Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit announced his intention to bring charges against Netanyahu based on an investigation that has been ongoing for more than three years. The Israeli prime minister was suspected of bribing the media and receiving gifts from businessmen in exchange for patronage. Netanyahu himself has repeatedly denied involvement in corruption and called the charges a "witch hunt."

In June 2018, the Prime Minister was questioned for the third time on the above-mentioned charges. However, he was then a suspect in only two cases. In 2016, Israeli police questioned Sarah Netanyahu in the so-called Head of Government Residence case for more than 10 hours. At that time, the case consisted of three separate episodes, but only one reached the stage of bringing charges. Sara Netanyahu did not recognize the charges. In the same year, the police obtained a warrant to interrogate her husband.
