In the U.S., the engine of a passenger plane caught fire during takeoff

Passengers of the plane of the American airline United Airlines, which was to depart from Houston to New York, were evacuated after the plane caught fire during takeoff. This was reported by Fox 26 television channel on February 2.

"No injuries have been reported. <...> 104 passengers and five crew members were evacuated," the media outlet notes.

According to the TV channel, the airliner had engine problems during takeoff. Passengers from the portholes noticed ignition in the wing area. Specialists began to investigate the causes of the incident.

Earlier, on February 1, a Learjet 55 air ambulance crashed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The airplane was en route to Missouri's Springfield-Branson Airport. The cause of its crash is still unclear. As a result of the crash, seven people were killed - six who were on board, as well as a local resident. In addition, at least 19 injuries are known.

A representative of the aircraft operator Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, which owns the plane, specified that among the dead - a girl, her mother, a doctor, a paramedic, a pilot and a co-pilot. According to Philadelphia authorities, the child was being treated at Shriners Hospital for Children in the northeastern part of the city. All six of the dead are Mexican nationals. The plane was returning home.
