The organizers of the WTA-500 (Women's Tennis Association) tournament in Abu Dhabi apologized for the mistake after Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina was announced as a participant from Spain. During the tournament draw on Feb. 2, a Spanish flag appeared next to the 27-year-old Russian's name.

"We sincerely apologize for the error made by one of our suppliers during the online draw, as a result of which the wrong nationality was indicated next to the name of Daria Kasatkina," the tournament organizers said in a statement on social network X (former Twitter).

They specified that the error was purely "administrative", and it has already been corrected.

Before that, on January 27, it was reported that the International Football Federation (FIFA) lifted the transfer ban from the Moscow soccer club (FC) CSKA. This was made possible after Dutch FC Heerenveen reported that CSKA had paid off the debt owed by CSKA for the transfer of Nigerian striker Chidera Ejuke. Heerenveen director Ferry de Haan said that the problem had been resolved with the mediation of the Russian Finance Ministry.
