An otolaryngologist has named the causes of tinnitus

Tinnitus, or tinnitus, is a common phenomenon that can manifest itself as ringing, humming, squeaking or hissing, noted Alexandra Gershevskaya, a surdologist and otolaryngologist at the European Medical Center (EMC). She told Izvestia on February 4 that it is not an independent disease, but a symptom that can indicate various health problems.
"According to research, tinnitus occurs in 10-15% of people, and in some people it significantly reduces the quality of life. Let's analyze what causes cause tinnitus, when it is necessary to consult a doctor and what diagnostic methods will help to identify the problem," - said the expert.
According to her, there are many factors that can cause the appearance of tinnitus. These may be diseases of the ear: wax plug - blockage of the external ear canal with wax masses, which leads to distortion of sounds; otitis media (inflammation of the ear) - infectious processes in the middle or outer ear; violation of the function of the eustachian tube. It may also indicate acoustic trauma - exposure to loud sound, or sensorineural hearing loss - a hearing loss that is often accompanied by tinnitus.
In addition, noise can mean vascular and neurological pathologies: arterial hypertension, neuroses, stress, depression.
Also such a symptom can appear due to the influence of drugs and external factors: taking ototoxic drugs, hormonal changes, vitamin deficiency.
Gershevskaya explained that tinnitus requires medical attention if it does not go away for several days or increases, accompanied by dizziness, hearing loss, headaches. You should also see a specialist if the noise is pulsating and coincides with the rhythm of the heart or leads to sleep disturbances, anxiety and irritability.
"Tinnitus is the body's signal of possible problems. Ignore it should not be ignored, especially if it is accompanied by other symptoms. Timely diagnosis will help to identify the cause and select an effective treatment, and a proper lifestyle will reduce the likelihood of recurrence of tinnitus. Take care of your health and do not delay a visit to the doctor if tinnitus has become your constant companion", - concluded the surdologist-otolaryngologist.
Earlier, on January 31, ophthalmologist Maria Churganova of the medical company "SberZdorovye" said that color vision disorders can be both congenital and acquired. In the second case, the causes may be, for example, cataracts (partial or complete clouding of the eye lens), hereditary dystrophies (changes in the cells of the retina, which are responsible for color perception), photodamage of the retina, retinal changes associated with diabetes, as well as inflammation of the optic nerve.
