In Germany, 32% of citizens surveyed support the creation of a coalition of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in the Bundestag after the elections on February 23, 2025, shows a poll conducted by the Insa Institute for Public Opinion Research. This was reported by Focus on February 2.

At the same time, 26% of those polled favor a coalition government of the CDU and the Alternative for Germany (AdG).

The coalition of CDU - Greens and CDU - Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) is supported by 17% of respondents.

Earlier, on November 6 last year, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) dismissed Finance Minister and leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) Christian Lindner from the cabinet. Lindner explained that Scholz had thus ended cooperation with the entire FDP. Scholz later passed a vote of confidence in the government, which was considered in the Bundestag on December 16. Parliament eventually passed a vote of no confidence in the cabinet, after which President Frank Walter-Steinmeier called a snap election to be held on February 23.
