Mikhail Shchukin, editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Sibirskie Ogny (Siberian Lights), has died

Member of the Russian Writers Union Mikhail Shchukin, who for many years headed the publishing house "Sibirskaya Gornitsa" and the oldest literary magazine in Russia "Sibirskie Ogny", died at the age of 71. This was announced by the governor of the Novosibirsk region Andrei Travnikov on February 2.

"The Novosibirsk writer, winner of many literary awards Mikhail Nikolaevich Shchukin passed away. <...> I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mikhail Nikolayevich. The bright memory of him will remain in our hearts," - said the head of the region in his Telegram-channel.

Shchukin is the author of many novels, including "A Name for a Son", "Konokrad", "Yamshchina", "Black Storm", "The Protection of the Intercessor", "Incomparable", "Fringe", "Dashing Guests", "Convict Will", "White Apron, White Bow".

In 1995, the writer was among the founders of the publishing house "Sibirskaya Gornitsa". Since 2014, he became editor-in-chief of the magazine "Sibirskie Ogny". As Travnikov added, under him the magazine "found a second life and entered a new century of its history".
