The closure of more than 250 hotels in Istanbul will not affect the summer vacation of Russians. This was reported on February 2 by Artur Muradyan, vice president of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) on international tourism.

According to Ekonomi Hatti, after the fire in the hotel of Bolu ski resort, which caused human casualties, the Turkish Ministry of Tourism sent a letter to the governors of 81 provinces with a request to identify hotels operating without a license. As local newspaper Karar wrote, citing data from the Istanbul governor's office, 253 hotels in the city will be sealed.

"Hotels that are not popular on the Russian market are being closed. Plus now it is the off-season period. There are a lot of Russians in Istanbul, but at the same time the number of hotels exceeds a thousand. Accordingly, several percent of everything has closed," he said in an interview with Zvezda TV channel .

Muradyan is confident that the situation will improve by the beginning of the summer season. According to him, hotels are closed for a good reason, and the relevant inspections will have a positive impact on tourism. There will be fewer questions about security, said ATOR Vice President for International Tourism.

Also on this day, NTV TV channel with reference to the statement of the administration reported that in the Turkish province of Mugla suspended the work of 95 hotels.

Before that, on January 30, 50 hotels were closed in Antalya.

A large-scale fire in the Grand Kartal hotel at the resort in Bolu occurred on the night of January 21. 79 people died, another 51 were injured. At the same time there were almost 240 guests in the building. The Russian Embassy in Turkey said that there was no information about the Russians who were at the resort.

The owner of the Grand Kartal Hotel Halit Ergul called the hotel staff responsible for the fire. According to the Sabah newspaper, the fire may have been caused by the mistake of the staff. They allowed hot oil to get on the grill, after which the fire broke out. The employees tried to extinguish the fire with water, but it began to spread. On January 29, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that 28 people were detained in the case of the fire.
