There can be no dialog between the Russian Federation and Denmark on the issues of ensuring security in the Baltic Sea and preventing military risks under the conditions of Copenhagen's continued support for Kiev. This was reported by Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin in an interview with TASS on February 2.

He specified that the Danish side broke off contacts with Moscow.

"There are no prerequisites for resuming dialog on these issues in the conditions of Denmark's sponsorship of the Kiev regime," Barbin said.

According to him, before the start of the special military operation, the Russian Federation drew Copenhagen's attention to the possibility of implementing mutual confidence-building measures in the military sphere, including the prevention of incidents on the high seas and the airspace above it. However, Denmark missed this chance.

At the same time, the Danish authorities allocated $7.5 billion to Ukraine. This led to underfunding of the Danish armed forces, lack of air and missile defense systems. In addition, there is a shortage of ice-class patrol ships, the Russian ambassador pointed out.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.

At the same time, some Western countries are actively supporting Kiev by supplying arms. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on December 3, 2024 that European leaders intend to continue a destructive line to escalate the Ukrainian conflict.

Denmark remains one of the main military sponsors of Ukraine, the Russian Embassy in Copenhagen told Izvestia on January 27, 2025. This year, the country's authorities plan to allocate more than $1.3bn to the Ukrainian side. The Russian diplomatic mission is confident that during the EU presidency in the second half of this year, the kingdom's priority will also be to increase the production of weapons, including for Kiev.
