The third dead crew member of the military helicopter, which collided with an airplane in the sky above Washington, was Captain Rebecca Lobach. This was reported by the United States Army.

"Capt. Rebecca M. Lobach of Durham, North Carolina, served as an aviation officer (15A) in the Regular Army from July 2019 through January 2025. <...> Our deepest condolences to her family and all families who are mourning the loss of their loved ones affected by this accident," the Feb. 1 statement reads.

It is noted that she had no experience in combat deployments. However, she did have awards, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

That said, Rebecca was honored to serve as a White House military social assistant, volunteering to support the president and first lady at events including the Medal of Honor and Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremonies, Gazette.Ru noted.

The investigation into the airplane incident is ongoing.

Earlier, on the night of January 29-30, a passenger plane American Airlines and a military helicopter Blackhawk collided near the National Airport in Washington. On board the plane were 60 passengers and four crew members. There were three military personnel in the helicopter: the crew included Sgt. Ryan Austin O'Hara and Petty Officer Andrew Loyd Ives. US President Donald Trump reported no survivors of the airplane crash.

Todd Inman, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board in the United States, revealed on January 31 that it could take a year to establish the exact cause of the plane crash. In addition, he specified that investigators had retrieved all flight recorders (black boxes) from the crashed airplane and helicopter.
