A fire occurred at the Martinez Refining Company refinery located in Martinez, California. This was reported on February 2 by CBS News television channel with reference to the public alert system of Contra Costa County.

"In connection with the fire at the Martinez Refining Company, public health precautions and shelter-in-place mode have been implemented," the material said.

An alert about the fire was sent at 13:47 on Saturday, February 1, local time (00:47 on Sunday, February 2, Moscow time). It is noted that the cause of the fire was a hydrocarbon leak. Later the fire was localized.
