The Russian Defense Ministry showed footage of attack aircraft working to liberate Novovasilevka

On February 2, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of assault units of the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Center group of troops during the liberation of the village of Novovasilevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) in the Red Army direction of the special military operation.

The ministry specified that the units made a march through open mined areas of terrain to the settlement. The Russian servicemen used strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to destroy enemy firing positions.

The militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who were defending Novovasilevka were unable to organize retaliatory actions due to the decisive offensive of the units. After the Russian servicemen entered the settlement, they finally cleared it and took it under their control.

Earlier, on January 31, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian Armed Forces (AF) had liberated the settlement of Novovasilevka in the Donetsk People's Republic.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
