The West warned of problems with supplies to Kiev because of the scandal with Umerov

The institutional crisis in Ukraine over the scandal against the country's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov may undermine the supply of military aid from Western countries. L'AntiDiplomatico reported on February 1.
"Ukraine is facing a new institutional crisis that could undermine international trust and jeopardize military aid flows," the publication said.
The publication noted that Western officials have already urged Kiev to resolve the situation in the defense establishment as soon as possible.
"At a critical moment, given the Russian offensive and the possibility of collapse of the front, the internal instability of the Kiev regime may jeopardize the already insufficient and useless military supplies," the material stressed.
In addition, the publication added, this institutional crisis may undermine the residual authority of Ukraine in the eyes of its international partners.
Earlier, on January 27, the Ukrainian public organization "Anti-Corruption Center" reported that Umerov became a defendant in a criminal case on abuse of office. According to the organization, Umerov's refusal to extend the contract with the director of the defense procurement agency, Marina Bezrukova, against the decision of the supervisory board was illegal. It also recalled that he fired two members of the Board who voted in favor of the relevant decision.
In late December 2024, former German Finance Minister Oskar Lafontaine called Ukraine a country with boundless corruption. He expressed the opinion that there were no real democratic structures there and the leadership was exercised by oligarchs.
