- Kursk region authorities are forming an accurate list of missing residents of the region

Authorities of Kursk region are engaged in compiling a general list of missing residents of the region, who cannot be contacted by their relatives. As reported on February 1 in the government of the region, now the list reads about 2 thousand people.
It is noted that more than 10 lists were submitted to the Committee on Regional Security, which coordinates the work on the formation of a single open list. They were compiled by employees of the regional Interior Ministry Department, the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, the Red Cross, local authorities, as well as volunteers and relatives of the missing. The difficulty is that many names on them are duplicated several times.
"Three times duplication of entries has been established in the lists. After reconciliation there are a little more than 2 thousand citizens left. Reconciliation of data and clarification of the list continues", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the government of the region.
In the near future a meeting of the working group on the formation of a unified list, created by the Vice-Governor of Kursk region Alexander Khinstein will be held. It will consider the clarified and certified list of names and surnames. After that it will be published on the official resources of the region.
Last November, as a result of complex negotiations, 46 residents of Kursk region were returned from Ukraine to Russia. Russian Human Rights Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova specified that among them were a wheelchair user and 12 children. On September 24, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large for crimes of the Kiev regime, Rodion Miroshnik, said that Russia had a roll-call list of Kursk Region residents held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU).
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
