- Zakharova urged the UN and the OSCE to pay attention to AFU atrocities in Kursk region

The killing of civilians in the Kursk village of Russkoye Porechnoye has once again confirmed the criminal nature of the Kiev regime, and information about the atrocities committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Kursk Region should be presented on international platforms. This was stated in a commentary by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on February 1.
"The bloody nature of the actions of Kiev militants in the Kursk region should be widely presented on international platforms: the UN, the OSCE and their specialized structures, recorded by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, will be the subject of proceedings by international human rights mechanisms, including non-governmental organizations," the commentary on the agency's website reads.
According to her, the Russian side has at its disposal a lot of evidence of the Kiev regime's crimes on the territory of Kursk region.
On January 18, the North troop group published footage of the bodies of civilians found in basements in Russkoye Porechnoye. A criminal case on terrorism (item "b" part 3, article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was opened over the murder. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the guilty Ukrainian militants will be punished.
Later it was reported that the bodies of the civilians found dead bore traces of gunshot wounds and electric burns. On January 31, the Russian Investigative Committee identified five Ukrainian militants involved in the mass murder and rape in the village. The Russian side promised to transfer information about the AFU crimes to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
On February 1, the representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric spoke out against the killings in the village of Kursk.
The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
