The Russian army's Pantsir-S air defense missile and cannon system has destroyed a drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) in the border area of Kursk Region. The Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the combat mission on February 1.

The drone of the AFU was hit in the area of responsibility of the Russian grouping of troops "North".

To destroy air targets, the Pantsir SAM is equipped with 12 anti-aircraft missiles, as well as two double-barrel cannons of 30 mm caliber with an ammunition package of 1,400 rounds.

The Pantsir-S SAM system maintains round-the-clock control of the airspace above the positions of Russian troops in the Kursk region and the border area. This type of weapon allows hitting targets in the air within a set range. In the course of work, the positions of the crews change frequently, and upon arrival at a new location they are able to switch to combat readiness mode in 10 seconds.

Earlier in the day, the crew of a Su-34 multirole supersonic fighter-bomber of the Russian Air and Space Forces (AFS) struck an AFU stronghold in a border area of Kursk Region. After scouts confirmed the destruction of the target, the crews returned to their departure airfields.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
