A fabricated provocative video on YouTube, which contains insults against Uzbeks, was made on purpose to quarrel Moscow and Tashkent, Uzbek Foreign Ministry spokesman Akhror Burkhanov said February 1. Uzbek Foreign Ministry spokesman Akhror Burkhanov said on February 1.
"As a result of the investigation it became clear that this material is provocative and fabricated by destructive forces trying to sow discord in relations between our peoples," the diplomat pointed out in his Telegram channel.
The spokesman specified that the Uzbek Foreign Ministry contacted its colleagues from Russia through diplomatic channels immediately after the clip appeared on social networks.
"Naturally, the Russian side immediately emphasized that such insulting statements, regardless of who made them, are deeply regrettable," the spokesman said.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported attempts by Ukrainian and Lithuanian intelligence services with their foreign handlers to undermine Russia's partnership with the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The agency said that it had identified the person who insulted representatives of the Uzbek nation in a video clip on social networks. He turned out to be a citizen of Ukraine Mykola Kochmarik, and the YouTube channel where the video was published belongs to the special services of Lithuania.
Commenting on the FSB report, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that Ukraine would not be able to quarrel Russia with the CIS countries. Zakharova recalled that the unity of the peoples of the Russian Federation is one of the officially enshrined traditional values of the state. According to her, the friendship with the CIS nations "cannot be undermined by either video fakes or paid provocations from abroad".
