- The Foreign Ministry called incorrect the UN Secretary General's accents in his speech about the victims of the Holocaust

Moscow considers the emphasis placed by UN Secretary General António Guterres in his speech at the UN General Assembly Hall event "Holocaust Remembrance for Dignity and Human Rights" and in his message delivered at the Park East Synagogue in New York as incorrect. This is stated in a commentary by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, published on the agency's website on February 1.
Thus, the Russian side found outrageous the fact that Guterres in the list of victims of Nazi crimes did not say a word about the multi-million losses of the USSR in World War II.
"We consider incorrect the accents placed in the speeches of UN Secretary General A. Guterres in the context of the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust. <...> It is completely unacceptable that A. Guterres, in order to please the perverted political correctness popular in the West, completely ignored the fact that the relevant commemorative date was established by the mentioned resolution of the UN General Assembly in recognition of the feat of the Red Army fighters," the commentary reads.
Zakharova emphasized that the Russian Federation considers inadmissible such historical and political exercises, which, according to her, border on outright falsification and revision of the results of the Second World War.
