In Poltava Region of Ukraine, an unidentified person has shot dead an employee of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of the military recruitment office) while escorting persons liable for military service to a training center. This was reported by the command of land forces of the Armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Telegram on February 1.

"February 1, 2025 at the gas station in the city of Piryatin during the escort of the military conscripts to the 199th training center there was an egregious case - an armed attack on a serviceman of the Poltava district territorial center of manning and social support", - stated in the message.

It is specified that the attacker threatened the military officer with a shotgun and demanded to give his service weapon. Having received a refusal, the attacker shot. From the severe wounding of the employee of the TCC died at the scene.

"After the attack, the intruder took possession of the serviceman's rifle and fled with one of the mobilized military conscripts. The command of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine strongly condemns this egregious crime and demands the strictest punishment for the perpetrators. The murder of a serviceman in the line of duty is a grave crime that must be investigated as soon as possible," the military emphasized.

Conflicts between citizens and employees of the TCC in Ukraine occur regularly. Thus, on January 13, Khmelnytskyi court found guilty a man who attacked TCC employees with a gas gun. He was sentenced to probation for one year and six months.

Before that, on January 3, in Poltava region, the employees of TCC broke a man's leg. The police began an investigation into the incident. The military enlistment office refused to comment on the situation. And in November in the Kiev region, a military officer opened fire on a man running away from him.

In April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20 last year, signed a law on toughening mobilization. In particular, he lowered the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 and signed a law on the creation of an electronic register of persons liable for military service, which combines information on the personal data of Ukrainians, including details of internal and foreign passports. There are no provisions on demobilization in the documents.

Martial law in the country has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
