The Night of Champions boxing tournament was held in Moscow

Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium hosted the IBA Night of Champions boxing tournament on February 1.

"A lot of friends, a lot of acquaintances. It's great. I think it is necessary," - shared his emotions Olympic champion, WBA world champion Alexander Povetkin.

Those gathered at the stadium became spectators of seven fights. In the main fight Artem Suslenkov and Belgian Jack Mulowayi, who challenged for the IBF European heavyweight title. The Russian managed to win.

The main event of the tournament was the fight between Russian boxer Muslim Gadzhmagomedov and South African athlete Tabiso Mchunu. The Russian has not a single defeat under his belt, and this fight also ended with his victory.

"Boxing is now the flagship that shows that in sports there should not be any political trends, there should be no decisions that are not connected with the spirit of competition," said boxer Dmitry Kudryashov.

Pavel Pogrebnyak, a former player of the Russian national soccer team, who was present at the event, shared that he is also interested in boxing, although he belongs to a different sport. He also called the sport "one big family."

"IBA Night of Champions" kicked off the fifth Boxing Forum, which gathered the country's best athletes, coaches and functionaries. General Secretary of the Russian Boxing Federation, President of the International Boxing Association Umar Kremlev noted the need for this forum and recommended all federations to attract business to the sport in this way.
