The UK has allowed Ukrainian refugees to bring in their children

The UK Interior Ministry has changed the norms for assisting Ukrainian refugees - now they have an opportunity to obtain a visa for their children to live together in the kingdom. This was reported by The Independent newspaper on January 31.

It is noted that in February 2024, the authorities changed the program "Homes for Ukraine". After that, children could not move to their parents or guardians in the United Kingdom.

"We have taken urgent action to address this problem, they will allow parents with visas under the Ukrainian program to apply to sponsor their children to join them in the United Kingdom. This will apply to both already submitted applications and future applications", - journalists quote the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Thus, according to the changes, children who receive a visa in this order will be able to live in the UK for up to 18 months. They will have access to education, health care and benefits. The media also reported that earlier, against the background of restrictions, many Ukrainian families resorted to fraudulent schemes and spent thousands of euros to obtain visas for their children.

At the same time, the US suspended the program of assistance to Ukrainian refugees. This happened on January 28. It was noted that it was suspended until the revision of its conditions in accordance with the decree of US President Donald Trump from January 20, 2025 "On border security".

Earlier, on January 15, The Telegraph newspaper reported that thousands of Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the UK may lose their jobs due to difficulties amid the new visa rules. According to the newspaper, visa uncertainty has affected about 20 thousand Ukrainians.

European countries began to accommodate Ukrainian refugees on their territories since the beginning of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022.
