In St. Petersburg, a pensioner lost 3 million rubles because of fraudsters


A resident of St. Petersburg lost 3 million rubles because of fraudsters. This was reported by the source of "Izvestia" on February 1.
On the eve of 81-year-old St. Petersburg resident appealed to the police with a statement that in the period from January 26 to 29, he received calls from unknown persons who introduced themselves as employees of "Rostelecom", the FSB and the Central Bank.
According to the pensioner, the attackers contacted him under the pretext of reissuing a contract for the provision of services. Among other things, they convinced him to sponsor the Ukrainian army.
Thus, the fraudsters forced the resident of St. Petersburg to transfer Br2.6 million to an unknown person on January 28 and another Br451 thousand the next day.
The total material damage amounted to Br3.051 million. A criminal case under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed by an organized group or on a large scale") has been initiated.
The police are in the process of establishing the identity of the attackers.
Earlier, on December 27, 2024, the press service of the main department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow reported that the police identified one of the participants of the scheme to defraud a 76-year-old man of 6 million rubles. It was specified that he took from the victim more than 1.5 million rubles.
