Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba may visit the United States to meet with American President Donald Trump from February 6 to 8. This was reported by Kyodo agency on February 1.

It is noted that the Japanese government informed senior officials of the ruling party that Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will visit the United States in 6-8 days.

Also according to Kyodo, the meeting between Ishiba and Trump is expected to take place to discuss cooperation between the nations and understand the importance of US involvement in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to this, Ishiba can probably offer Trump a deal to buy US gas. Also, Japan may offer the American president investment in the construction of a new gas pipeline in Alaska that would connect the US and Asia, the publication said.

Earlier, on January 24, Enes Karakhanov, chairman of the International Center for Countering Crime and Terrorism and international political scientist, said that Japan could threaten Russia and China over ties with the United States.

Before that, on January 19, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri reported that at least 72% of surveyed Japanese "feel anxious" about Trump taking office. At the same time, only 21% of the surveyed Japanese noted that they were "not worried" about Trump's coming to power.
